A tear. A smile.

I spent fourteen years of my life in one of the oldest cities in the world - Damascus. With 44 stories from my childhood and youth, I give a glimpse into the life of this city. I remember places that no longer exist and people who are no longer where they once were. My family is scattered all over the world. The current situation in Syria is one of civil war, fear, and refugee misery - there is so little hope of ever rebuilding the country. Inspired by Hakauwati, the storyteller who enchants life with his stories, I felt the urge to tell my friends in Europe stories from Damascus. They are bilingual: German, as I have lived in Vienna for ten years, and Arabic, as I want to share my book with my relatives in Damascus." The book is published by weissbooks.w. and is available in bookstores.
